IMPORTANT Dates:
Registration deadline: 27 March 2024 (Wednesday)

Competition Day: 17 April 2024 (Wednesday). Participants will record their videos at their own school or home WITHOUT the need to come together physically (by using the Moo-O's Distance Collaboration feature). They will then submit their video entries online by 9pm on the same day. The competition details (including competition login account) will be sent to the teacher mentors of the participating schools after the registration is closed.

Announcement of Results: 30 April 2024 (Tuesday). Results will be announced on Moo-O's Facebook Page and teacher-mentors of winning teams will also be notified by email. Prizes, door gifts and certificates of participation will be delivered to all participating schools between 6 May 2024 (Monday) and 17 May 2024 (Friday).
Objectives:
- To motivate students to read and speak fluently and expressively in English.
- To cultivate a love for the English language through a fun, engaging and immersive way of reading.
Competition Format:
This is a digital storytelling competition open to all Singapore primary schools. The participants will have to use the Moo-O software to record themselves as story characters, reading their scripts. Please watch the sample video created by students using Moo-O.

Each participating school can only register ONE team that comprises of three Primary 3 students and one teacher mentor.

On the competition day, the team will choose a story in the Moo-O software to be read and recorded for the competition. The produced video will then be submitted online to be judged for its reading qualities such as clarity, fluency, pronunciation, expression and creativity. Physical props are not allowed during competition. The top 15 performing teams will be presented with Gold (5 teams), Silver (5 teams) and Bronze (5 teams) Awards accordingly and Merit Awards for the rest of the participating teams.
Registration : Registration for The Moo-O Awards 2024 has closed. We will be sending an email with more details to schools who have successfully registered by 29 March 2024, Friday. Thank you for your interest and support.

No further registration will be accepted once 50 schools have registered or by 6pm on Registration Closing Date, whichever occurs earlier.
Judges:

1) Alison V. Thackray
Executive Director,
PT.Starlight Edutainment 		Alison V. Thackray, M.A. (Hons) is the Executive Director of PT.Starlight Edutainment, and has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for more than 20 years, in both Indonesia and the UK.
She has designed and implemented Early Childhood Education curriculum and teacher training programs for Higher Education establishments, local government and private preschools and KGs.
Alison has spoken at educational seminars at a local, national, and international level. She hosts a weekly parenting talk show entitled 'Play Smart' and previously co-hosted the talk show 'Education on Air' alongside the current Dirjen PAUDDasMen, Bpk. Iwan Syahril.

2) Catherine Khoo
Author, educator, literary traveller. 		Catherine Khoo has been writing and publishing since 1988. Now her love for history has fuelled another passion. Researching ancient civilizations for the 10-book historical fiction series she is developing. Why this series? "I'm keen to explore how children in history lived. To show how challenges can be overcome with understanding and diplomacy — listen to the children!"

3) Dr. Laurie Baker-Malungu
Associate Prof. of Education University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Macao 		As an educator, curriculum designer and internationally recognized author of children's literature, Dr. Baker-Malungu views literacy and reading as an essential component of learner autonomy. The key to unlocking the creative potential within.

4) Dr Morgan Zhou
Vice Principal,
Anglo-Chinese School (Primary) 		Dr Morgan Zhou currently serves as the Vice Principal at Anglo-Chinese School (Primary). Prior to this role, he was a Teaching Fellow at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, within the English Language and Literature Academic Group. In this capacity, he taught in the methods courses of the English Language track of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education programme. Morgan firmly believes that reading provides long-lasting positive effects that support emotional and intellectual growth in individuals. He is most heartened when he sees children being read to in schools, libraries, and communities by peers, teachers, and families.

5) Mr. R. Alan Davis
Curriculum Consultant 		R. Alan Davis is a curriculum consultant who has over 20 years of experience in English education and training which includes curriculum design, online instruction, and project design, implementation and management. He has worked in Australia, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. He led countrywide training programs in Thailand and the United Arab Emirates for primary and secondary teachers. He earned a degree in Anthropology from the University of Washington and a Masters in TESOL from the University of Technology, Sydney. His primary interests include brain-based education, creativity, student engagement and the use of technology in education.

6) Sarah Chia
Senior Assistant Director,
Pedagogical Excellence Branch,
Academy of Singapore Teachers,
Ministry of Education 		Prior to joining the Academy of Singapore Teachers, Sarah was an English Literature and Language teacher, and a Head of Department in two secondary schools, where she relished the opportunity to lead and engage in professional conversations with her fellow English Language and Literature teachers. An avid reader, Sarah finds delight and respite in reading and always welcomes book recommendations from others.
In her current work, Sarah is glad to have the opportunity to support teachers in their ongoing professional learning, to enable them to hone their knowledge and skills, and to be reinvigorated throughout their teaching career. She believes very much in motivating and empowering teachers, building their self-belief alongside their skills and competencies, so that they can do their best.

7) Mrs Yaxiu Greig
2/3 Dual Language Teacher,
P.S.20M Anna Silver School,
New York. 		Mrs Greig is currently teaching at P.S.20 Anna Silver Elementary School in New York City. She has nearly 30 years of teaching in K-12 schools in Singapore and the United States, the latter where she is certified in Elementary Education in the states of New York and Florida.
Mrs Greig was conferred with a BA degree from the National University of Singapore and had obtained her teaching diploma from the National Institute of Education. After she had moved to the United States, she completed coursework in Gifted Education with Technology and New Literacies at New York State University.
